How long does it take before Immigration lets you know about medicals?

Hi,

Thanks in advance! Any advice greatly appreciated!
We are submitting applications for permanent residency visas (skilled workers) next year and have a few questions.
We are moving from Australia & trying to get the timing right.

1) How long does it take (ball park) between the immigration office receiving a completed application and informing you of the details of the medical you must undertake?

2) I know the medical lasts 12 months but is there a timeframe in which you must sit the medical after Immigration telling you the details about the medical you must sit. ie once they contact you do they say you must sit your medical in the next 3 months? - if not we will submit our application as soon as they are opening their books in 2013 and then if we hear back from them early we will delay our medical until 12 months before we intend on landing in Canada (August 2014)

Our application was filed on 14 April 2011 and it was 14 August 2012 when we got meds request, with a deadline of October 5 2012, good luck with your application. It also depends on the visa office some are quicker than others.
