Hi,

We were asked to submit a passport photocopy and the Appendix A and some photos.
We sent all that and I was just curious how long I can expect to wait.

Also, what are we going to receive back? Since we sent photos, is the next thing we receive going to be the actual PR Card?

Applicant is a Japanese national going through CPC Ottawa

Thanks

I believe the passport photocopy, Appendix A and photos were supposed to be sent with the initial package. If they were not, then CIC requested them from you. It may not necessarily mean you're done or near the end.

A request like that usually means you are close to the end but know one can say for sure how long. No, the next thing she receives will not be the PR card. Your wife will receive the COPR and must actually land as a PR first.

CIC quite often requests these things again near the end of the process.

Thanks for the replies.
Well it's funny, the day I posted this I came home and we had received her CoPR.
So yes, the answer is you do not receive your PR card you receive a certificate.
We now have to "land" (we are already here) and get the PR card issued.

I called them and they said there is an office nearby where we can do this, the only catch is they give you an appointment and I (the sponsor) have to be there.
This means I have to take time off work. Here, I have another question but it is different from this title so I will post it separately for the sake of clarity.

For reference - response time for CoPR for visa-exempt country (Japan) was 1 week.
Also for clarification, the instructions CIC sent us said to send two Xpresspost envelopes of the same size.
I don't know if this is a standard instructional email or not but we found the wording confusing.

For reference and clarity - you send a small Xpress post envelope with your passport/Appendix A/photos, and all of this goes inside a big Xpress post envelope (8x11), and they send you everything back in the smaller one. That seems obvious now but at the time we received notice of Final Stage the email was very confusing even after I mailed back for clarification.

Thanks

Is this an Outland application?

Is the process different for inland applications visa exempt vs not visa exempt?

If you are near the Canada-US border, it is much faster to just flagpole.

The VO is Ottawa, so yes, it's outland.

No, there is no difference.
