how long can you stay on a Visitors visa

if my wife is applying to visit me in Canada what is the longest single entry visa she can apply for? I heard it was 6 months

my mom got it for 6 months. she would have got more but her passport was valid for 6 months.

from my knowledge single entry can be issue for max period of 6 months.
