How long can you stay in Canada as a temporary worker (Closed Work permit)?

Hi All,
I am in Canada for the last 4 years. I came here on Intra Company Transfer , Closed Work Permit. I have submitted my Express entry application under CEC on Feb 2021. However a decision has not been made on my application yet. Due to this circumstances, i applied for BOWP, it was approved and valid for another 4 months. However due to unforeseen complications in my express entry profile - my express entry application decision could be extended or in the worst case scenario could be refused as well. So i am planning to reconvert my BOWP to Closed work permit.(As BOWP will be termed, and i wopuld have to stop working if application is rejected) I have got a long term project under the same employer. Is there any restriction on the years i can stay in Canada as a temporary worker in Closed work permit? Can i apply for closed work permit again?

As far as I understand it, there is no restrictions, you can apply for as many closed work permits as you needed, as some people go back and forward working in the US/Canada/Mexico for example, and need a new one each time they come.
I wonder if you can ask for an extension for that BOWP instead, for that someone else needs to chime in as I haven't touched BOWP much.
