How long can a PR sponsor be outside Canada while sponsoring wife?

How long can the PR sponsor be outside Canada for visits. What is an acceptable time limit. I have seen conflicting ... some saying 2 weeks, another saying not more than 6 months.

Where can I find definitive information on this?

1. There are no instructions. 2/3 weeks is a vacation, 6 months is not.

No "definitive" information exists. Basically the rule is you must be a resident of Canada during entire processing time. If you leave Canada for any reason and CIC finds out, it's completely up to discretion of a visa officer if they think the time is short enough to be considered a vacation or temporary absence, or if they think it's long enough that you are no longer resident here.

Most people advise to keep trips outside Canada to 3 weeks or less.
