How long can a British Citizen visit family in Canada for?

I got married in Canada to my Canadian fiance, we are in the process of applying for my husband to sponsor me to live there.
I would like to visit for three months, does anyone know if this is possible and how long would I need to be back in the Uk for?

On entry you can be given up to a 6 months stay, you can max out your stay as long as you leave before the status expires.

Ideally you have to have lived 183 of the last 365 abroad to not have problems while entering Canada. Of course this is evaluated on a case to case basis by the CBSA officer when you try to come back to Canada.
