How long can a background check take??? Any advice.

Our case is currently pending background check. I have lived in two countries, and the current status according to the consulate is that the case is in background check. It was like this for 1 year 8 months now. I have a clean record.

Any idea what is the average time for a background check?

I am not sure if we will end up waiting for another month, three months, or another year. I am getting tried of waiting.

It would help if we at least know what is the maximum that we can expect to wait.

Thanks for the link. I have already gone through dat...but it says timeframe is upto 6 months. & mine is stucked from last 1 year & 8 months. So any idea why this much delay ?
