how long are criminal checks good for

my husband did his criminal check in july and we put papers in dec do the math and it been 6 months as of janury 28 so my question is should he redo one the office in kingston jamaica has our application so b4 they ask for him to do another one

As far as CIC is concerned the criminal check is good for 3 months... this is regardless of what is says on the actual document. My husband's check had an original expiry date of 6 months but for CIC they require one no older than 3 months. My husband had to re-do his.

I think once your file has been sent to the Visa office the 3 month expiry is void. They might require another before giving him the visa... I'm not sure on that.

Actually, criminal clearances are valid for six months - but they need to be submitted to CIC with your application BEFORE they are three months old.

weird enough it was expired when i sent it in and they accepted it so hows that it been a month since approval

They may still ask him to do a 2nd one though. My husband got his police certificate end of June. We sent in our application end of Sept. His passport was requested end of Nov. and we thought next step would be his visa. But then they sent the passport back end of Dec. and asked for another police report. :-(

oooh ok i suspect they would do that anyways ask for another one just tell us what we need so we can do it man they just wait till months go by and then say ok we need this and that bla bla
