How long after sending app until it will show in the "system" that we applied?

My husband is here on a 3 month visitor Visa. The border officers were extremely reluctant to let him in (we were held at the border for hours and had to pay a bond in order to finally get him through) because we had not yet SENT our application (despite the fact that I had already paid our application fees and we were just waiting on his FBI clearance). The condition for them allowing him here for 3 months was that we file our application during that time. He has to go back to the border on August 7th, at which time they will check their "system" to see that our app has been filed and then decide whether he is allowed to stay here for a longer period of time or be sent back to the US.

Our app is ready to be sent, with just one problem... his FBI clearance still hasn't arrived. He sent for it a couple of weeks before coming up to Canada, so it's been about 8 weeks in total we've been waiting for it. It's going to be mailed to his address in the States and his mother is going to mail it to me here when it arrives. I'm starting to panic that it won't arrive in time and that even if we overnight our application to the Mississauga office, there won't be enough time for it to be processed into whatever database is available to the border officers. Does anyone know how long it takes (matter of days, weeks?) for it to just SHOW UP as being filed? I'm a ball of anxiety right now :'(

right now the waiting time is approximately 91 days to receive your acknowledgement of receipt......they do not process file on day of receipt...sorry...

I know it's a 91 day processing time for the sponsor but it takes that long just to show you've filed??

It took me 9 weeks to get my FBI request back... add another week cus thats about how long it will take you to receive it from the states... the boarder guard told me it could take up to 6 months before they can see your file in the system I had not yet filed my app but had all the printouts and the receipt showing the fee was paid the only thing I think might make them happy when you send in the app use a courier, the copy you get will have the address you sent it to on it and just maybe that will satisfy them... the signed receipt they received it would be good to...GL!

I think you'll have to wait for an AOR or Approval before your app appears in the system that is shared by CBSA and CIC..

Whatever the case, I'd make sure you bring with you the copy of the receipt of payment and make sure you send the app to Mississauga with a tracking # and bring that receipt of proof that it is sent. And it's suggested that you make a photo copy of your entire app for your records, I'd bring that along just in case.

yes.....sorry you do not get put into the system until you receive an aor or approval letter......
