How is work experience calculated for CEC?

The rules recently changed to allow for even non-continuous work in Canada to be counted.

Is work experience calculated on an hour/week/month basis? I worked in a job for 10 months, totalling 1520 hours, but took 4 weeks unpaid leave...I then worked 2 months full time in a different job...Does this count as 1 year of full-time work? I definitely have over 1560 hours of work, but am wondering if the 4 weeks unpaid leave will be an issue. should I subtract out the 4 weeks of unpaid leave? If I do that, then what I enter into my profile won't match up with my Record of Employment...any help?

Generally, you should count weeks (52 weeks=1 year). "30 hours or more" in a week is 1 full time week, doesn't matter if it's 30 or 40 or 60, it's still 1 week...

Yes, subtract the unpaid leave. So please clarify -
subtracting the 4 weeks of unpaid leave, does that mean you had roughly 9 months of paid employment for your first job?
Did you have at least 30 hours per week for all weeks?

I definitely have over 1560 hours of work,
Doesn't really work that way - you could work 60 hours per week for 6 months and get that, but as far as CIC is concerned, that is still only 6 months of work. You need 1 full calendar year of full-time work (or the equivalent in part-time work, which by definition takes more than 1 year).

If I do that, then what I enter into my profile won't match up with my Record of Employment...any help?

Not sure what you mean... the end date of employment? Your Letter from your employer should describe the unpaid leave. As well, your ROE should show that 4 weeks as unpaid.. or 0 hours or....

I then worked 2 months full time in a different job...Does this count as 1 year of full-time work?

It sounds like you have 11 months of experience. You can combine them, the gap does not matter, but you need another month, if I've understood you correctly.
