How is Employment Experience calculated?

CIC website states that 1,560 hours in a 12 months period equals to 1 year of Work Experience. So I work 48 hours (8 hours a day, 6 days a week) per week, which comes down to 2,304 hours in a 12 months period. So according to CIC's statement; after 1 year of my current employment I should be able to claim 1.5 years of work experience. Is this how it's going to be? Or what if I work for 9 months in my current employment, which will then be 1,728 hours of work. According to CIC, that should be enough for me to claim work experience worth 1 year. Is it not?

If you have practical experience with this, please help.

Thank you guys.

You need a minimum of 12 months work experience to be eligible. You can't apply as soon as you have 1,560 hours worth of experience - The requirement is 12 months, which must be made up of a minimum of 1,560 hours.

No you cannot claim 1.5 years of work experience based on the information you have provided.

The total hours (1,560) is only used to calculate experience gained from part time work, which necessarily takes longer than 1 year to complete. For example, you work 25 hours per week. That's 1,300 hours per year, which is less than 1 year of full time work experience according to the total hours (1,560).

Another way to look at it is IRCC considers 30 hours per week as full time. So if you work 30 hour shift or more per week for 52 weeks, then you will have 1 year of work experience. If you work 48 hours per week for 52 weeks, you will still have only 1 year of work experience.

If you work 48 hours a week for 9 months - that equals 9 months of experience.

If you work 48 hours a week for 12 months - that equals one year of experience.
