But you must stay in Canada for 3 years out of 5 years to maintain your permanent status.

It is 2/5 years stay in Canada to maintain status of PR. 3/4 years stay in Canada and you can apply for citizenship. This period may not be continuous.

It starts when you land in Canada....

You can land in Canada before 1 year of your Medical date.
