As an American, it is my understanding that I do not require a visitors visa to enter into Canada. I would like to make a visit to Vancouver to see my fiance as he lives in Vancouver and I live in New Jersey. We are going to be applying for him to sponsor me for a PR card but we do not fall under the classes to file such as common-law *live together for minimum of 12 months*, married or conjugal. So we thought perhaps we could live together but I was not sure how I would stay in canada beyond those 6 months when no visa is even needed to begin with. Am I still able to request an extension of my visit WITHOUT having a visa?? And if so, how do I go about requesting that extension?? PLEASE if anyone can answerthis for me I would greatly appreciate it! Thank you for reading!!!

You extend your visitor status. It can be done online, see here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/visit/extend/visa.asp
