Hello,

I am looking to sponsor my soon to be wife (we will apply after we are married). Currently she is here on a work permit tied to an employer that has laid her off. As such, she is seeking new employment and must go through the LMO & work permit process.

My question is, does sending in an outland PR application before she finds work affect the work permit or PR application at all? She wants to stay here and work (or try to find work) while the PR application is being sent and processed.

Thanks! :)

The outland application will have no impact / no interaction with a work permit. The PR application won't affect the work permit and the work permit won't affect the PR application. You're good to go.

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

Yes exactly, the two are pretty much exclusive of each other. We are in the "same boat" as you. The only thing is without current employment, they cannot leave Canada as without an employment letter in hand they could easily be denied re-entry into Canada.

excellent. thanks!

if anyone else has any comments i'm all ears.
