My husband and I have a somewhat unique story. We met in Toronto while he was visiting for the summer from the US and fell in love quite quickly. We married after spending three amazing weeks together, at city hall, with a very simple but beautiful ceremony. This was almost two years ago and we are still married as happily as can be. He has spent time with my family in New Brunswick and I have spent lots of time with his family in Kentucky and they can attest to how happy we are together. We have met and spent time with each others friends. We visit each other back and forth constantly, we send each other postcards and we talk on the phone (well, video Skype) for hours every day that we are apart. We have similar goals in life and intend on achieving them together (ie: children). Our relationship is absolutely genuine.
My main worry is that the fact that we married so quickly will work against us. Does anyone have a similar story? What sort of documents did you send to prove your relationship is genuine (ie: so that ultimately you can be together because you love each other)? It took us this long to finally decide that Canada is where we want to be and I am hoping that the two years that we spent married will work in our favour.
Currently we are waiting for the FBI clearance and in the meantime we are preparing the other necessary documents for the application. He is in Kentucky now and we are applying outland. The way that I see it because our marriage is a genuine one he shouldn't be denied PR but I know that bureaucracy doesn't always work that way. Any advice/words of encouragement would be much appreciated!
