Hi all,
I am currently applying for a study permit in Canada and one of the documents they have requested is proof of "sufficient funds" for my stay in Canada. Sadly, my father passed away 6 years ago. He left behind an estate account with money intended for his children's (me and my siblings) education, in which I have a share.
I plan to submit the bank statements for his estate account to the CIC to prove that I have sufficient funds. In addition, I will attach the receipt acknowledging my payment of my tuition fees. However, the estate account is in my father's name, and I do not have full control over my share as I am not yet 21 years old (the legal age where I live).
I would like to know how I may prove that I am entitled to the money in the estate account and that the estate account is in fact under my father's name — in other words, how do I prove that the owner of the estate account, for which I am submitting the bank statements, is in fact my father? Can I submit my father's birth certificate or some other document to prove that the estate account is in my father's name? Should I also include a letter from my mother stating that she is allowing me to use the money from my share?
Thank you very much!
