I am a Permanent Resident of Canada, received the PR card in Jun 2018, stayed in Canada for about a month and then returned. Due to my professional and family obligations I am yet to move to Canada and planning to migrate there in Sep 2020. Meanwhile, my wife conceived (who is also a PR) and we are expecting the baby to be born in April 2020 at my home country. I was browsing through the web portal: https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...ship/spouse-partner-children/eligibility.html to know about the process of bringing my newborn with us when we relocate to Canada and found that Permanent Residents living abroad can’t sponsor dependent child from outside of Canada.

Would you please advice if there are alternatives to bring my infant with me while we move in to Canada next year?

You can only sponsor your child for PR once you have returned to Canada. There is no option for sponsoring outside of Canada.

You should apply for a TRV for your child once you are ready to return to Canada. If approved, you can then come to Canada with your child and file the sponsorship application. If the TRV is refused, then you can try applying for a TRP. If that is also refused, you will need to move to Canada ahead of the rest of the family to sponsor your child. Once the PR application is approved, your child will then be able to come to Canada.

Would also mention that the expiry date on your PR is unrelated to your residency requirement. You must live in Canada 730 days out of the first 5 years starting from your landing date.
