My wife sponsored me to Canada. She applied in October 2012 but I don't know that she applies before or after Oct 25. So how could I know that condition 51 applies to me or not.

did you receive your COPR already? if it applies to you, it will be written on the COPR.

What is COPR ? I have received PR card.
COPR : Confirmation of PR, a piece of paper that you signed in front of a border officer when you landed. There it should say "conditional PR", and mention a Condition 51 if it applies to you.

I checked COPR there is no such condition but problem is that I can't find the original copy of COPR. I only have photocopy. I think my wife stole it, can she create problems for me. I have my passport and PR card. What should I do?

Well....if its a photocopy of the original one it will still show the SAME thing....if photocopy doesn't have a condition that means the original doesn't have it either

If your wife stole your COPR, that is considered illegal. It is your legal document that belonged to you.

Having a photocopy is handy to have, as you have proof of PR. However when it comes to Applying for canadian citizen, I may be wrong here, you may be required to show original COPR.

At least that I was told by my wife's landing officer. The officer told her that this COPR is a very important document to keep for rest of life and is needed for applying for Canadian citizenship.

I guess the next question is, why is he concerned about Condition 51, why did his wife 'steal/take' his original COPR and why can he not ask her for it?

It sounds to me like someone has already left his wife and is now concerned if the 2 year condition does in fact apply to him ....

just saying ...

Yes you need the original to apply for citizenship. You also need it to collect old age pension and other benefits. It is indeed very important and recommended to place in a secure place. Many put it in a bank safe deposit box.

Yes, if it not on your photocopy, then you are not subject to condition 51.

You should get a replacement document however. But no rush since the next time you REALLY need it is when you apply for citizenship since you already have a PR card.

OK. Can she misuse it to create problems for me ?
That depends, what was the reason for the separation? i.e. did you only marry your wife in order to gain immigration to Canada?

If your wife feels that is the case, she can report you to CIC for fraud and misrepresentation, and they may or may not open an investigation. If the relationship broke down for other reasons, then you would be safe with PR status.
