Hi all,

I have a boyfriend in Canada. I am currently holding a multiple visit visa that will expire on 2022. I was in Canada for the first time the whole month of Aug 2019 but now back in Philippines coz I still have a job. This coming march 2020, I am planning to resign from my job and go back to canada to stay with my boyfriend. I’m just wondering if how can I stay in Canada for 1 straight year so that we can be qualified to apply for a Permanent residency after? As far as I know TRV only admits you to stay in Canada for 6months max. Whatvdo you think should I do to stay with my boyfriend for a year? Is there any way? Your answer will be much appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

You should also start visiting the Family Sponsorship section of this forum because many people there do this same thing to apply for PR.

So reading from the link, I understand before 6 months of my stay I should apply for an extention and it’s up to the embassy how long they will let me stay in canada again.
Like I said, go to the Family Sponsorship section to learn more. There will be a chance for you to get another 6 months.

Declaring the 12 month common law requirement is a valid reason for extension so long as you and your BF have the funds to support you without you working yet.
