To get a work permit, you apply for jobs on Canadian job websites. You get a job offer. Then your employer files for a LMIA and pays $1k to prove no Canadian or PR could be hired, only you. Once you have a LMIA (which can take months), you apply for a closed work permit showing you are experienced to do the job. Processing can take months.
