Hi,

food counter attendant is not a skilled occupation so your wife won't be eligible for an open work permit.even if she tries a visitor visa most likely she won't be approved.

How can I apply for PR?

Hi!
Could you please help me ?I'm Krishna Thapa from Nepal working in Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada from 16th April 2014 as a counter attendant. I used to work in Dubai, U.A.E. as a Supervisor for 3 years and as a Cashier 5 years in food and beverage industry and again I entered in Canada to work in same field. Unfortunately, I didn't study about Canada very deeply so came on semiskilled position and now I'm regretting but I heard that after one year I can apply for PR, is it true? coz after a year I'll have one year experience of Canada.
Could you please show me the way..

Regards,
Krishna

The Canadian Experience Class program allows someone to apply for PR once they have one year of work experience in Canada. Unfortunately this program is limited to jobs with NOC A, B and 0 - and your job as a food counter attendant does not qualify. So CEC is not an option for you. You should take a look at the Alberta PNP program. Maybe you could qualify for PR under this program.

Yes - if you change to a cook position, your wife and son will be able to apply to join you in Canada. However there is no guarantee they will be approved.

Note that if you want to change to a cook position, you will need a new LMO/LMIA and a new work permit.

I dont see many options for you I'm affraid

'Reminder:
You must maintain a valid work permit throughout the AINP application and assessment process. Only applicants under the Strategic Recruitment Stream Engineering Occupations Category are exempt from this requirement. If you are unable to provide the AINP with a valid work permit or implied status based on a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) or LMIA exemption at the time of assessment, your application will be declined. See the FAQ section for further information.'
