HI im a 32 yr old lady from england i have 2 children by the same father but am not with him anymore, im goin over to canada to my boyfriend again very soon for 2 weeks, but after the 2 weeks we want to sort out being together forever properly, we have spoken of marriage and are prepared to do what ever it takes to be together, i really need to know some facts about how we can ive read and read and read so many different things on do this cant do that we just want to be together, ive read about family sponsorship etc so have a rough idea our problem also being is that my boyfriend has a criminal record, but does work could this stop him sponsoring me? if so could his brother in law who has a very good job sponsor me instead? also what about my children and do i have to do something here in england before i can just take them with me? i know its a long process and we are prepared to do what ever it takes for us to be together i dont want to go over and not do things right ive heard that if we get married i could stay there get sponsored within canada under the approval on principle program, what is this? i dont want to have to go over and every 3 months come back to england i dont mind once or twice a year back and forth but dont want to spend our money on flights all the time. in a nutshell my boyfriends in canada im here in england with my 2 children how can i be with him and stay with him and not for just weeks at a time.
p.s should i also look into going to court for custody of my children even though they both live with me if i intend taking them with me also do i have to let there father know my intentions? thanks very much in advance to all that can help me thank you xx

1- If you are living in Canada and are married to a canadian, he can sponsor you without you having to leave Canada. However, you cannot legally work until late in the immigration process. "Approval in Principle."
2- I don't know if your boyfriends criminal record prohibits him from being a sponsor or not. If you have a criminal record, that could prevent you from immigrating to Canada. It depends on who, how, when, where and what the criminal record is for.
3- You must have custody of your children and I believe that you must have permission from the childrens father.
4 Approval in Principle is not a program. It is a stagepoint within the "In Canada" immigration process when a candidate for immigration receives 'approval in principle' from Immigration Canada and can be granted a work permit so they can work while waiting for their permanent resident status to be finalized.
5 No. Your boyfriends brother in law may not sponsor you.
5- You may want to look at requirements for a skilled worker visa. Perhaps have your boyfriend find an employer who will sponsor you as a foreign worker. That could get you there. It takes longer than a family class sponsorship but it may end up being your only option if your boyfriend doesn't qualify as a sponsor.
