We are currently working with a lawyer (who has stopped contactingn us) on my husbands (us citizen ) PR application. We thought we had until November 21 to get the application sent, as that would be 6mo since he entered the country. HOWEVER, we failed to consider the 2 week visit at the beginning of this year. The lawyer knows the timeline and knows he visited that time, but said nothing about it

Has my husband already lost status? Has he overstayed? As of right now we are unaware of any applications the lawyer has sent so we are assuming nothing has been applied for.

The two weeks at the beginning of the year were a separate visit and wouldn't be counted in the six months.

I'm assuming you're applying inland. If so, make sure you include an OWP with the application. Also, make sure you apply to extent your husband's status in Canada in addition to submitting the inland app + OWP. Sometimes applications are returned due to being incomplete (e.g. missing signature, outdated form). If this happens to you and you don't file for an extension, your husband will end up being in Canada without status.
