Dear All,

I don't know .. I am hearing so much about immigrants not getting jobs in Canada and to add to this, we have many websites describing horrible stories of Highly educated jobless immigrants struggling hard to meet their needs.

But most of these stories are related to Doctors, Ph.D holders, Sales, Marketing etc.. also some stories about IT Professionals.

Does any one know - how is IT doing in Canada ?? Because due to the current slide down in US markets - Some IT professionals are planning to immigrate to Canada for stability .. though wages are very low compared to US ..

Is it really worth a move .. ?? How are IT guys doing there ??

Can anyone share your experience / knowledge ??

Thanks

Rezendgi,

I have been in IT Field about 20 years and 12 years of that as an IT Infrastructure Opreation Manager. I do live in California, and had made a personal choice to move to Canada ( exact reasons, thats jobs in IT field are drying). I do have few things in mind once in Canada, persuing consulting or starting my own small company. I am Microsoft Systems Engineer, and Certified Cisco Network Professional. I applied for immigration process on November 5th, I am part of new NOC list. If all goes well i will be landing in North York, Ontario. If that is your destination, and not sure what is your background is in IT field? If you or anyone, in this field intersted in consulting or partenring up, let me know... for further collabration. I hope this give you some idea, and been helpful to you.

Cajoejoe,

Great, thats too many years of experience ..

Well, I am a Oracle Certified Professional and also SAP certified Professional - Having 5 yrs of experience (thats since my graduation) and gearing towards South Western Province. Applied last month and still in the process of hearing back..

Living in US for 3 yrs and as you know there are jobs here .. but don't know what would happen due to the bad economy.

Your plans are good, but not sure of how the prospects are for so many IT professionals graduating / migrating into Canada. I did some research and there appears to be jobs.. and thats why I thought to go ahead and apply.. But the way immigrants are saying that "One should have done their schooling in Canada for a job etc.. just scares me.."

As any IT professional, would definitely not expect to drive a cab or work in McDonalds' or sweep the streets of Canada as I am seeing in the various posts by Doctors, Engineers, Ph.D holders who migrated recently..

Thanks.
