Hello! I am happy to say that we finallllly heard back about my fiance's permanent resident status. We were sent a letter saying we just need to send them back a copy of a passport or travel document (which he now has to get) for it to finish processing. we had included his enhanced license since it is considered a travel document with the application but I guess they don't accept that as part of the submission (?)... weird, but anyways....
the letter said he can now apply for a work permit.
I was just reading over the CIC website and it is so confusing... so many different options and rules... i am just so confused now. My question is, where do we go from here? He's been a visitor for 2.5 years, and has his visitor permit until december 2012. The letter from immigration canada said he can now apply for a work permit, but where do we start? does he get a social insurance number first? and then look for a job? so unclear about where to go from here, if anyone could lend some insight please let me know, thanks!
