Highest Level of Education

Hi, I have a question about the highest level of education I have completed.

I finished highschool in Alberta, Canada, and I went to University for 1 year. At the end of that year, my grades were too low to continue, so I had to take a mandatory 1 year "Dean's Vacation" until I could go back. Does this mean I can put down 1 year of completed College/University?

Since you completed high school and not university/college, your highest level of completed education would be high school.

I disagree with the above poster. It does not ask if you received a degree, so you would put University 1 year.

And I disagree with both of the above posters. If your marks weren't high enough to continue, then you failed your first year of university. You therefore did not complete that year. If you had completed the year successfuly than you would put, university 1 year. Did you pass 60% of your courses? This is the usual requirement if you are collecting student loans.

I honestly don't think it makes much difference. I would put one year of university if you left home and lived in a new place for school only because you have to list every place you've lived and account for what you've been doing (employments, unemployments, etc) elsewhere in your app.

The question asks for the highest level of education completed. So I think it is correct to say high school was the last one completed. The first part of the question asks how many formal years of education you have. There, the applicant would include the one year of university. The other part of the question asks what's the highest level of completed education.

Agreed.. on the sort of 'check list' area put high school, but when you go into more detail later on in the application, say that you attended university for one year.
