have one question... is the application for spouse open work permit applies only first country residents? i'm skilled worker from Philippines and presently working in Vancouver ,Canada.

Which country is "first country"? As a temporary skilled worker, your spouse has the right to apply for an open work permit based on your permit no matter where she is from. It is however possible that her application is refused if immigration considers her to be a risk to overstay in Canada.

hi Leon,
i have a question for you and hope you can help me what to do. i'am skilled worker (cook) and just got nominated here in BC. and my wife is here already and working. since applying for PR will take a long time to process. so i'm planning to bring my kids here to study. but i don't know what kind of visa i will going to apply for them , should i get them student or tourist visa? they are all minor ages 13, 11, and 9 years old.

If you are planning for them to stay and go to school, you should apply for student visas for them.
