Help with what to do after the RIV process!

So I have searched topics and nothing seemed to pertain to me or maybe I am just so stressed about this that I'm missing it.

I landed at the end of August, we did our paperwork ourselves. In Hamilton, they never informed me that I needed to import my car. For some reason I was under the assumption that I just needed to swap over my NY license/plates for Ontario. When coming into the US one time after I landed and crossed a few times, the Customs lady hassled me about not importing my car. On my way home to Canada, they stopped me and were very nice and understanding that I didn't know about the process.

Last week Wednesday or Thursday did the RIV inspection, Drive Clean and something else? at Canadian Tire just before the 45 day mark and passed. Now I'm confused on my next step. Do I need to get an Ontario license next, then insure, then change over my plates/register? How long do I have to complete this process? And how long does all of this take?

Again, I didn't realize what or how to do any of this and now I'm stressing because I'm wondering if I am going to have issues going over the border for Thanksgiving this Wednesday night.

Thanks for any help!

I believe you get a sticker in the mail from RIV, but I don't think you actually have to get the sticker before registering the vehicle. Just bring the stamped forms and your registration etc. to your insurance place. You can also check the status of your RIV case online with your Form 1 and VIN number.
