Hi all...I need some guidance on what to do and what not to do!

My girlfriend, now fiancee from Brazil. I have gone and visited her several times and met her family. All is well. Now we would like her to come and visit to meet my family. She has already talked to some over the phone and email.

Given that she is planning to come for a visit in July we were going to apply for a visitor visa.

Of course eventually we will get married and she need a permanent visa, I just dont think the time allows us this now.

I dont know exactly where to start, but looking for some wisdom here. We noticed on the form that she could select Fiancee as an option, but I also have heard that if they see this they may deny the visa because they would be afraid that she would not go back;

I do think that I will have to sponsor her as the process looks really slow otherwise.

Sorry, if this is vague...I need some wisdom on how to proceed. Have some many questions, but will start with this, what do you recommend?

Thanks!

I don't think Canada has fiancee visa. Anyway she should show as much proof of "ties" in Brazil- a good job with a reputable company, sufficient funds, properties, family not necessarily in that order.

Correct, I know there is no "fiancee visa", but if you downloadn and fill the form at

www dot cic dot gc dot ca/english/pdf/kits/forms/IMM5257B.PDF

You will see that for marital status, you can select Fiancee. My question was whether she should check this or not. I have heard they may deny entry just on that basis. So I wanted to know if you thought this was true?

Thanks!
