Hi all,

I am a Canadian citizen living in the UK (for 8 years now). I married a UK citizen in Dec 2007. We are planning return/immigrate to Canada next January. I have read the instructions over and over, but they seem to be contradictory depending on where you look.

Could someone help with the simple question of in which order we submit things to where? The below seem to be the relevant components - let's play the put-them-in-order game!

- I submit my application to sponsor to Missisauga
- he gets his security check done (does he send this with his application for permanent residency, or only when it is requested??)
- he gets his medical done (same question as above?)
- he submits his application for permanent visa (to London? or with mine to Mississauga?)

All help very welcome.

Also this - we had his medical done 6 months ago (having not properly read the forms!). The doctor sent the results directly to the Canadian Consulate in London. We think they have disappeared now. Is it worth chasing them down? Would they still be valid?

Thanks in advance,
Alison

Hi there,

I am Canadian living in the UK for 6 years and recently married also. Have just submitted out application in Jun and got approval for sponsorship 2 days again (yay!) so hopefully I can help you.

1. yes, you submit your application to mississauga
2. you should send the police certificates with your application, so UK police certificate and certificates of all other countries he's lived in for more than 6 months after the age of 18
3. you should get a form given to you by your medical examiner/doctor or whatever you call it (a canadian form) and you send that form along with your application.
4. his application will go with your sponsorship application together and sent to mississauga together

as for his medical, it will be valid for 1 year. apparently, the medical results are sent to canadian consulate in london and they enter all the information and it stays on the computer so when you send in your application to mississauga (and have you approved as a sponsor) then they forward to london and the medicaul results will get matched to your application. you should send your application as soon as you can as they say that the application will take around 6 months (or maybe less) in london but your medical is only valid for 1 year (which mean only 6 months left), so you might need to do another medical if they don't make their decision before it expires.

hope this help, best of luch!

Thanks so much, pea, that was really helpful. It's so nice to hear from someone who has been down the path already!

Another question for you, or anyone else - if my husband's application is still being processed and we finish our jobs and are ready to move to Canada, can he get a visa of some kind to allow him into the country while London is processing his PR application?? If so, how do we get that visa?
