My wife and I traveled to the Niagara border with her COPR letter and went through the process with an immigration officer.

She told my wife that when she is "ready" to move to Canada she needs to change her address and then the PR card will be sent to us.

We did an address change online but we really aren't aware if that has triggered the process of getting the PR card mailed to us or not... can anyone clarify what steps we could take to ensure this card is in fact on its way?

very confusing process this is, thanks !

please note: the border agent filled out lots of paperwork and kept the COPR with my wives picture on it? she just gave us a simple address change paper form which instructed us that we could do it online if we wished. Just curious is we should fill out a full request for PR card application or not.

Did you got your copy of COPR signed by the officer? If you have it, then her PR status was activated and entered into the system and PR card should arrive to the address on file (which you already changed). Keep this copy as it is the only REAL proof of her status until she is able to get her citizenship (and she will need it for the application as well)

I'm confused about the keeping of the COPR. The COPR is a very important document she will need to get her social insurance number etc. I think you are going to have to go back to the border.
