Hi Everyone

I'm a New Zealander living in New Zealand with my Canadian partner (Canadian Citizen.) We meet all the requirements to return to Canada as Common Law sponsorship.

I've been on the CIC website and started gathering forms and information to start the application process.

I used the following link on the CIC website to get the correct forms:
cic.gc.ca/english/information/applications/spouse.asp
The link produces about 8 forms which we started filling out.

I got word through websites that if the Canadian citizen lives outside of Canada with their partner they need to fill out the family class application forms. There are about 10 forms to complete the extra forms are Medical and Financial information. Checking on the CIC website the criteria for family class is Canadian citizen living in Canada with partner living outside of Canada.

A little bit of confusion but is the link on the CIC website above the correct way to get the right forms. If anyone has does this before please let me know to right forms and direction to take :)

Thanks
James

You're looking at inland vs. outland. You can still apply outland while living in Canada.

Not sure where you are getting your information. As of Dec. 15 both inland and outland use the same forms.

Outland used to be a lot faster. But now, since the changes, no one knows if that will continue to be the case or not.

There are no extra forms to fill out for either one, except with inland you can apply for a work visa.
