Hello,
My partner is filling out her Canadian citizenship application and we are a bit unsure about about question 6 which reads:
6A – Date you became a permanent resident?
6B - When did you first come to live in Canada if different from “A”?
My partner first came to Canada for a year on a “Working Holiday” visa, May 2008 – May 2009. We then went back to her home country for a month (June 2009) and then she returned for a few months on a regular tourist visa (July 2009 to November 2009). She then had to go back because her tourist visa was soon expiring to wait for her PR. She got her PR in June 2010 and moved here at that time.
It’s clear to me that 6A should be June 2010 because that’s when she got her PR but I’m not sure about 6B. Should it be when she first came here on her “Working Holiday” visa in May 2008? Even though she then left and came back on a tourist visa?
I would really appreciate any help on this! I wanted to call the Canadian immigration office but it said on the website to only call them if you had already submitted your application so I’m now not sure who to ask.
