Can someone please help me get clarity on a question I have regarding the time frame of accumulating work experience for Canadian Experience Class.

I am aware of the 1560 hours / 52 weeks or part time equivalent within the last three years.

My question being can the work experience be accumulated over all of those 3 years (i.e through part time work)

I.e

Year 1 - 3 Months
Year 2 - 6 Months
Year 3 - 3 Months

Or must it be accumulated as 15 hours per week over 2 years (but within the last 3 years) for example -

Year 1 - 6 Months
Year 2 - 6 Months
Year 3 - 0 Months

Thank you for the help.

I don't see any problem accumulating 12 mo of work exp over the span of 36 mo. Why did you specifically say 15 hours per week? Did you see that number somewhere?

FYI: here is the IRCC operational instructions re work experience for CEC applicants:

Hey, Thanks for the response

This is where I found the initial 24 months part time = 12 months full time. From your post and info it would suggest it can be accumulated over the 36 month period, though from below it would seem as if it would suggest in has to be accumulated over a 24 month period.

Does anyone have any experience in this that they would be willing to share?

Thank you.

How much work experience do I need to be eligible for the Canadian Experience Class?
To be eligible for permanent residence under the Canadian Experience Class you must have completed, within the three years before you apply, at least:

  • 12 months of full-time work:
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours), OR
  • equal amount in part-time hours, such as:
    • 15 hours/week for 24 months = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)
    • 30 hours/week for 12 months at more than 1 job = 1 year full time (1,560 hours)

Ah! So the 15 hours is from the example. Note that they said "such as", so it does not have to be like that. The sentence clearly said "within the three years before you apply". I think you are all good to go with 12 months work exp within the last 36 months (note they calculate the 3 years by 36 months, not calendar year).

Thanks for your help limin! This was my take on it, but just wanted to make sure I was thinking along the right lines.

Is there anyone with any experience with applying through CEC that could some more light on the situation? I would be super grateful.

Thanks again :)
