Hi! wow, this visa process must be one of the most stressful processes I have ever experienced!! I have been reading information for months on how to get my UK fiance to Canada. Anyone who can shed some light I would seriously appreciate. After months of research I believe our best option would be for him to come to Canada in January. We plan to marry immediatly when he gets here. This way we can do an in-Canada application for the spousal visa. My main confusion at the moment is to do with being allowed to live in Canada while we wait for his visa to process. Because he is a UK citizen he should be allowed entry without a visitor visa as long as he can prove he doesn't plan to stay illegaly, correct? once he is in I believe he will only be initially allowed entry for 6 months? I know the first part of the process before he recieves his open work permit and temporary SIN can take 5-6 months, is this right? my question is if it takes 6 months to recieve the work permit, will this work permit entitle him to remain here until the visa finishes processing? will he need to apply for an extension at this point? also, I would like to be completely prepared by the time he comes in January. What should we have ready? I did read he will need police clearance from the UK, how does he obtain this? Also he will need a medical, should he have this medical done in the UK, or once he arrives here in Canda? I have found this forum IMMENSLEY helpful, and thank you so much for all the answers!!
