My New Zealand girl friend (we have lived together for 2 years) will be spending the next 18 months or so in Canada on a WHV (working holiday visa).

I’m a UK citizen and would like to visit her for a few weeks every month or two during her stay. For family reasons, I need to be in the UK every other month or so.

I have recently left my job (to take time out to write a book) so unfortunately I can no longer prove that I am employed in the UK. Thankfully I have considerable assets so I can prove that I do not have to work in Canada. I own a property in the UK thus showing a tie to the UK.

What’s the best way for me to proceed?

(a) Should I apply for a TRV, explain my situation and request a multi-entry TRV for 18 months?

(b) Should I just turn up at the airport, be granted entry then leave after a few weeks, then come back again in a month and repeat until my girl friend's 18 months are up?

Your advice would be very much appreciated. It could save our relationshp! :)

As a citizen of the UK you do not need a visa to enter Canada. Show up at the airport :) If you can convince the officers at the POE that you'll be back to the UK after a short visit, you'd be okay. And long distance love is not so tough anymore what with skype and instant messaging.

Job Offer........
Pre-Assessed..
British citizens usually have no problem getting entry. Life is a lot easier when you are TRV-exempt. :)
