I have received final approval for Study permit application and currently pursuing online study.. I am planning to go to Canada before fall'21. I am expecting visitor visa for my wife as my dependent soon.. However, we are also expecting baby during August.. So after baby is born in my home country, what shall I do bring both of them to Canada with me.. How much time will it take.. Any idea??

The baby will need a TRV too. So once you have the child’s passport then apply for TRV. If you aren’t travelling with them, they will need written authorization to travel. Processing depends where you live but estimate many months. Your wife’s visa is not guaranteed especially because she applied for a visitor visa and not an open work permit. If she isn’t coming with you to stay and work, she needs strong ties to your country and show she is only in Canada for a short visit.

Thank u so much for it.. I didnt applied her application under open work permit.. I was under impression that after arriving to Canada we could do that.. That may be the reason for delayed visa processing.. Can I change application type now to open work permit.. I guess not..i wanted to come together but don't see that chance ..so it will take a long time to stay together for me with family then after I land Canada..

You can’t change the type, you have to reapply.

You can apply for both at the same time. SOWP has long processing time so I would suggest applying as soon as possible. With a baby born in August it is unlikely for everyone to be able to travel by Sept 2021.

So are you suggesting I should withdraw.my wife's visitor visa application which is in progress since a long time and apply for SOWP ASAP. biometrics had been completed along with premedical already.. I don't expect we will travel together in Sept but am trying to get reunite as soon as possible.. Also, which stream I have to apply for baby who will born on August??I guess I have to wait till birth for applying or can I just prenotify IRCC??

Would suggest applying for SOWP in addition to the TRV since you’ve already started the TRV. If the TRV is denied you already have the SOWP in process. You will need to apply for a TRV for the baby. The baby will need a passport too. If your family is not travelling with the international student they have to apply for special authorization to travel at the moment.

Got your point.. Thank u so much.. So I can apply for SOWP while TRV is in process right..so after delivery again I have to apply for baby.. Till that approval I hope boarders will be open for family for reuniting..
