Hi I'd really appreciate it if you guys could help me out with a few queries:

So, I know the visitors need to show that they can cover their expenses while visiting Canada but my mum does not work. I work and I give her money to her bank account. Now, the money is in her account so its technically hers, but I was wondering if they will ask for the source of it too? Also, whats the minimum amount she should be showing in her account for a visit? Are sponsorships necessary?

Thanks

This will be tricky. Basically she is your dependant and that flags her as a non/genuine visitor, she might very well be pointed as coming to live with her financial supporter (quite frequent scenario).

The money is hers, so I would suggest having enough money in that account when she shows her financials. Yes, CIC will want to know what's the source of that income, so prepare proof of strong ties to homecountry.

1k per week after accommodations and airfare.

No. Only good to have.

furthermore, based on responses from people on this forum, you sending money to her may suggest she is dependent on you and that she mayn't likely return. how about asking another child to be sending money to her account (instead of you). also she could show stuff like land, car etc ownership.

i applied for my mother inlaw last year and was successful. she showed:

her gratuity, pension, rent she collects and letter of retirement. we also wrote letter that she was coming to assist with our new baby (plus i would be away for a research...).

same cic that gave her visa refused our application for extension last dec simply because she i forgot to include her stamped page showing when she returned to canada last march. cost me 200 dollars reapplication fees :-[.

painful, but she was given yesterday. so be careful with these cic guys. make sure you dot all your i's and cross all your t's. good luck
