HELP re: Self employed question

Question: Was I “self -employed” during May 2017 to March 2018 per Canada’s express entry definition?

Context/Additional Info:

• I have worked full time in US on H1b from March 2011 to May 2017 (first 6 years on H1b) and from March 2018 to Present (after I-140 approval to get H1b extensions after 6 years)
• My query is regarding the period in between my H1b employment in the US (May 2017 to March 2018, a period of 10 months)
• After my H1b’s 6 years finished in May 2017, my employer asked me to work remotely from India while awaiting my I-140 approval
• To facilitate this, I worked as an “independent consultant” during May 2017 to March 2018 contracted by my employer’s India office
• While I was physically in India during this period, I worked with my US team with the same job duties/responsibilities as when I was in the US
• I returned to the US in March 2018 with the same employer after my I-140 approval/H1b visa stamping as a full time employee (switched over from independent contractor to full time employee when I returned to US)
• I can get a reference letter from my employer detailing services rendered during that period.

More details about this period (May 2017 to March 2018) –

1. I had fixed working hours (40 hours/week)
2. I was paid through my company’s India office (which is a separate “entity” than the US office)
3. I was paid monthly in India instead of bi-weekly in the US (into my India bank account)
4. I worked on my US office provided laptop and software
5. I worked out of my own home location in India (instead of working out of my company’s India office)
6. I did not open/register a company in India, and worked as an independent “entity”
7. No paystubs/payslips were generated
8. I generated invoices for monthly “billing”, but they were just word docs with info. like To/From address, my bank details, money amount for services rendered – In short, not very “official looking”
9. I have bank statements and India tax filing docs for that period
