Hi,
I sponsor my father in 2009 and i received additional document request now 2012.
But unfortunately during this time my father diagnosed with mouth cancer and he currently going through treatments.
CIC wants me to fill the application and send them in 90 days. But we need few months so my father finish his treatment and get better and then fill al the form and so.....
So my question is can i request cic to give me some time break and then we continue ous application as things get better
Is it possible
Any suggestion will b grtly appreciated.

You would only need your father's signatures on a few forms which you can fill and send it to him. They would also need his photographs. The letter you received clearly states that they may close your file if you do not reply within the specified time. Your choices are: A. Try your best to get the documents arranged and send it to CIC. B. Withdraw your application and file it again when you and your father are ready. This may have further impact as CIC would not accept any new applications for 2 years and even after that, they may have certain requirements which may make it difficult to apply. C. Call CIC and ask them to give you more time giving detailed reasons as to why you need extra time and how long it would take you.

Hope that helps.

Thanks very much for your reply.......
The problem is my father got mouth cancer and he has had a surgery of jaw and his face shows surgery.
So i will need his recent passport and photos as well for applications so do you think if i use his recent photo with surgery face it will not cause any problems?
THanks

If you have a photo which was taken before the surgery, you could use that. I believe the photo should not be older than 6 months (or one year-not sure). If photo is your only concern (for delaying), I suggest you send old as well as new photos and explain your situation when you submit your documents. In any case, if you start the process now, it would take up to a year to finalise the application. Hope that would give enough time for your father to recover. Wish him the best.
