My husband and I just married today, as planned, for immigration and stuff. We planned to fill out all the paperwork and such and send it out by the end of november. We're doing out-land and I wanted to wait with him while it processes. Problem is I got denied a six month visit, I was only given till dec 1. What should I do? I don't have anywhere else to go anymore, and the immigration/customs officer was once again very rude. I brought all this paperwork with me to show that we are getting ready to send it in and she didn't even care. She said I either needed ties to America or status in canada.

I hope you started prepping that paper work before you wedded ... It took me and my darling husband 3 full months to get all out stuff together, our paperwork stack ended up being about 4 inches high ...

Just because the paperwork is submitted or in process, it does not guarantee you access to stay in Canada. Somewhere (too lazy to look it up) it says this and says it's up to you, the applicant to ensure your visas are in order ...

Also, hate to say it but when you say "My husband and I just married today, as planned, for immigration and stuff."

Sounds pretty bad, lol no offense, but just makes it sound a little less sincere. And maybe the people you talked to were sensing that?

As for a solution, maybe apply for a different type of VISA? Working Visa, visitors visa etc... By December 1st at least you could have your paperwork submitted by then, there are many people here who live separate from their sig others waiting for a decision to be made, at least the outland apps go faster than inland :)

Apply for an extension - do it right away. The reason you would give would be that you are preparing your PR application and want to wait with your husband. I am assuming (bad, I know) that you are American so you can leave and probably with the right proof you can come back - hopefully you will get another IO who is less sticky.

Just get your extension paperwork filed and then go on from there.

@serenifly: I didn't mention we married today for immigration to the officer. I told them we had just gotten married. Either way though this is the third officer who has told me I can not 'move' here, and that I need to ties to America. They said I can only stay here for a week or two at a time.

@heatherusa : Yes I figured that is what I should do. Thanks for reassuring me. Btw you're right I am american. :)

Is there anyone that I can talk (legal wise) that I may talk to about the fact that the only family I have is my Canadian family pretty much. My dad is too busy for me and no longer wants me at his house because he is trying to move on with his own life. My husband's family want to take me in, but with IO treating me like a criminal it's hard to know what to do anymore. They let in me for six months before without ties, and I left on time (no extensions), and now I can't stay any long than two weeks?
