Help out a lady! International student traveling to US

Hi,

I am an international student doing my Phd in Montreal. These are the scenarios.

1. My temporary resident visa (TRV) expires on March 31st 2010
2. My study permit and CAQ expires on March 31st 2010
3. I applied and renewed my CAQ (valid till 2013)
4. I applied for study permit (on March 19) after I received my new CAQ

My question is, since I am sure I wont recieve the study permit before the first week of April,
1. Do I need a TRV to re-enter Canada (Montreal) from US?
2. Can I re-enter Canada, if I have already applied for a new study permit ( like the confirmation letter, payment details etc)?

I want to know because I have to go to US on April 1 and be there till April 5th. Its very urgent, due to a life-changing situation.

1. Yes you need a new TRV to enter Canada as you haven't received your new study permit. If you had a new study permit and were only going to the US you would have been re-admitted.
