Hi there,

I'm having some trouble finding a direction or route which works towards PR, and keep getting conflicting views. Any help or advice is really welcome!!!!!!!!!!!

My current CRS score is 419, I'm 34 years old, have a degree and have the maximum numbers of points for my IELTS score and my NOC is for an Industrial Electrician and I am on the pool for FSW.

Basically I am prepared to move to any part of Canada. This has been selected in my application.

I keep getting peopel say 'best option is to improve the CRS', but I feel like I may have exhausted all aspects of improving my CRS score, and now I'm just looking at the best ways to get to Canada.

I have to be realistic and getting a LIMA job offer is going to be really hard so I am chasing this but not giving hope.

Please can anyone advise on the below:

1. PNP - I have searched for PNPs but at this time I'm told I'm not eligible for any by my immigration specialist. My NOC is not in demand for any labour markets. However, what I want to know is if I can still apply to all these programs which are open and still be in the IRCC pool? I feel like applying direct to territories regardless of labour needs will increase my chances, rather than just being stuck in the IRCC pool waiting for a ITA?

2. I was told to get my other academic qualifications verified because this could add points. I had a degree assessed by WES and also have a diploma in a different field.

But when I called WES to ask them to also assess my diploma, they said they disregard all other qualifications, and only assess the highest one, in this case it was my degree. Does anyone know how I can get my other academic qualification verified? In a previous life I was also a house electrician with my own company and have trade qualification and company files to back this up.

1. you cannot apply for PNP.. they choose you from the pool and ask you.
2. Yes only highest degree is considered..and you get points for that..

Hi, thanks for the reply.

On point 2. I have the points for the degree, but can I get points for my other diploma not related to the degree?

On this site it says the following under point 4:

https://www.visaplace.com/blog-immigration-law/canadian-citizenship-2/how-to-improve-your-crs-score-in-simple-steps/

4. Education: If you have two or more certificates, diplomas, or degrees you may be able to claim extra points under the education section. Furthermore, completing an additional level of education can also be beneficial. Some candidates are only a few courses or months away from completing a degree, diploma or certificate that, when assessed, would help to improve their ranking under the CRS.

Cool thanks.
I do find it frustrating the conflicting articles on the net. But I have to admit I did call Campball Cohen once and someone advised me on this, but I've not heard this since.

Right now I'm trying anything lol!!!!

In the essence of trying hard... Did you also take points for the French language? If not, learning it might give you some 20 points. I have read a few posts regarding this.

It all depends upon the diploma - when it was awarded, was it recognized by concerned authorities in your country.

If you can elaborate on this then more accurate information can be provided.

Thanks, but this was a path I didn't want to go down but my need to try now. French intensive course looks to be an option!

Assume it will take a full year of intensive French studies to get you to the level where you can achieve a high enough score on the test to increase your points.

Hi tanmaisneha,

I have an HNC Diploma, NVQ 3 and some city and guilds. This Diploma, NVQ 3 and 'City and Guilds', were for my current career. I did my degree when I was 21 but then got a job which did not use my degree, so the company I worked for allowed me to do these other courses over the last 12 years.

The problem I have is trying to get a Certificate of Qualification for an industrial Electrician. Ontario need to review what they call my trade certificates which are the (HNC Diploma, NVQ 3) and say I must go through WES. But WES has already given me an evaluation on my degree which is the highest of all and say they will not evaluate the others. I don't know what to give to the Ontario trades school?

In my honest opinion, better start preparing for taking up the French test. I can see that as the only last option to increase your current score. Good luck.
