Help on application for IEC waiting periods!!!!

Hey all, I am wondering about the waiting times when applying for a IEC work permit.

Basically, I am in Australia, looking to travel to Canada in October roughly. I am thinking of applying as soon as I can due to possible lack of positions allowed.
But I am wondering, I have been told a few different things, on my friends CONDITIONAL ACCEPTANCE LETTER, after finishing STAGE 1, I have to complete STAGE 2 by the end of the letters validity, which is six months I think? And after his STAGE 2 completion the email saying he was approved for a IEC work visa says he has one year to enter Canada to get his permit printed.

My question is, if I apply for IEC no, in March, do I have to enter Canada before the conditional acceptance letter expires? Because if so, I cant apply until April or May? I just dont want to apply and get it all sorted and approved and be denied at the border due to waiting too long to leave, but dont want to miss out on the places left this year for Australians.

Any help is greatly appreciated, thank you!!!

I just submitted my application, so your conditional acceptance letter is valid for 3 months I think...(or there abouts whatever it says) So you get this at the end of stage 1, then go onto stage 2 which is like another government department basically, and you have to give them a lot more info... So as long as you submit your application (stage 2) within the 3 months thats fine.... And once you get your approval, THEN you have 1 year to enter the country...And from what i have read, once you actually cross the border they give you your 2 year working Visa.

I was also confused about that...As I am heading over in July but wasn't sure if I should apply yet.

As for processing times...The website says for the Sydney office which handles all Australian apllications that there is a 3 month processing time. I am hoping it doesnt actually take that long..As i don't want to book flights before I am approved.
