I'm an American citizen in the process of applying for a work permit for myself and my wife. I have a confirmed job offer and received a positive LMO back in late June. I was recently told that I can obtain a work permit immediately at a Port of Entry. CIC's website seems to confirm this but has incomplete information about the process. I have tried repeatedly to further details from CIC and the Canadian Embassy in DC but neither will respond to my inquiries or if they do they just paste a link to their FAQ which are thoroughly unhelpful for this matter.
Has anyone else been through this process? What documents do I need to have with me (beyond what would be in the standard application)? Will this process work for my wife who is seeking an open work permit? Any assistance is greatly appreciated.
