As far as I know, a third party can also sponsor you as long as you also attached the required documents for the sponsor. Lets wait for the others respond as I am not quite sure on this one.

Hi everyone, I got my acceptance in Humber College for May 2017 intake. But I'm having doubts on the OWP for Common-Law Union/Spouse. Though we're not yet married , but we are planning on December.

But the thing is, I would like to know from you guys, according to your knowledge or experiences , is it better to apply first for my study permit and wait for the approval before applying his OWP or should our application be submitted together?
