Hello... I am a live-in caregiver here in Alberta just arrived this 2011 January

I really need help :(

My work was routine so far, no overtime and nothing overwhelming to worry about until payday came.
My employer was complaining about the amount of money he was giving me and told me to transfer because they did not expect the
live-in caregiver to cost this much (info: they are funded by the government so I guess they don't really have money) but we made an
arrangement though, he said he'll release me from contract when I find a new job but in the mean time I'm paying for the difference that they put in for my deductions.... in simple terms I pay for my own taxes, EI, and CPP and barely get a salary. (I know tax, EI and CPP come off my salary but they are asking me to pay what they put in off my salary; I'm paying double, I hope that makes sense).

My question is this:
how long does the process take? the cic.gc.ca website says 39 days but we all know that's not the case.....

anyone with first hand knowledge about changing employers in the live-in caregiver program?

say, I already have a new LMO and it's just a matter of submitting it. How long will it take from submission to releasing the new work permit?

anyone with any information is much appreciated..... :'(

After all of deductions, How much have you been payed?

It might take a little bit longer. My new WP took almost 2 months.

If you are changing a employer, you need to ask for the Statement of Earning, ROE from your employer.

You said you have a new LMO? That means you found a new employer?

anyone with any information is much appreciated.....

after all deductions it's 1180.27 (Alberta); the thing I'm concerned about is they are now demanding more hours and who can stand getting complains when getting their pay check right?

that long? how long ago did you file?

thank you for the information

it's still in the process yet...

I don't know anyone here and if ever I report them to the Alberta Labor Branch, I know something will happen to their budget and I don't want that because the mentally handicapped kid (that the gov't is funding) will be the one to suffer... it's on my conscience... and I can't bear something like that happen to an innocent child...

anyone with any information is much appreciated.....

You have to look for a new employer adn the employer applies for LMO in your favour after advertising for the position for 14 days at the job bank. Send your WP application once you received your positive LMO. Currently, it takes 39 days for the WP processing. Where exactly in Alberta are you?

Hi there! I'm in Edmonton.
I don't know if this counts as overtime but they insisted that I stay after my shift so that someone will look after their son, so my shift is actually 3pm-8am the next day mon-sat.. I start sunday afternoon.. I just let it slide anyway b/c I'm just sleeping and I have no where else to go for the time being, if that isn't wrong I don't know what is..

I'm currently searching and already interviewed by different employers a couple of times. Though it looks promising, I'm just concerned about leaving this job ASAP with out a new work permit I don't want to be in trouble with immigration.
