I have met my requirements to apply for CEC immigration. However, my passport (Indian) was going to expire on July 30, 2011 which is I why submitted my application for new passport in order to send the new passport for immigration. However, I got my new passport but it has only been renewed for 3 months i.e. October 4, 2010. I'm assuming its because it didnt get clearance from the place of issue yet. My question is can I still apply for immigration within the next month, the fact that my passport expires on Oct 04, 2010 or I have to get it renewed first and then send the application for immigration?

Also is there a way I can find out when the clearance would be received so that I can renew the expiry date?

Thank you

Don't assume, find out why!

Contact whomever processed / is processing your renewal.

I would resolve the passport issue first. Lots of people have passports expire and get them renewed during processing, but for you, the fact that it happens so soon might be a problem.

Thank you for your response. However, I just wanted to clarify what you meant by the "but for you, the fact that it happens so soon". Thanks again

the fact that your passport expires in 2 weeks... just get the new one.
