Hi All,

I just submitted my work permit application last week. I have now realized I had made an error in answering this question.

"Have you ever been refused a visa, permit, denied entry or ordered to leave Canada or any other country"

I was refused a US visa at a US embassy abroad . I had subsequently re-applied and gotten an approval. However, in answering the above question I did not consider US and just overlooked that aspect of the question. I answered the above question as NO

What do I do? What are the options available to me so that I can correct this issue?

I can imagine this is a fairly common problem that many ppl face

Thanks

Send the explanation ASAP through webform along with updated form. Even if you didn't mention, they know it since US and Canada share information. This is a serious case of misrepresentation and people got banned for 5 years for this. Please don't take this lightly.

I am doing this right now with the help of my immigration lawyers. From your past experience, do you think if I mention this error and give them the updated details everything will be fine? Or do you think there will be some consequences?

Can I just withdraw the application and resubmit the application? I submitted last week so not much time will be lost.

Also, the US visa that I was refused at the embassy was finally approved from re-application. So I don't know if that changes things?

Thanks

You should be fine as long as you send in the webform.

Generally, as long as you tell IRCC before they find out, they’re pretty lenient about oversights. It’s important to get the revised application in through a web form as soon as possible.

Thank you all! I am talking to my lawyers to get this done ASAP.

I have one more question though. I was issued a Singapore visa in 2018 and it expired in May 2020. It is an e-visa which means it is essentially a piece of paper and not a visa stamp like what most countries issue.

I did not give this e-visa to my lawyers when they asked for my passport and all pages including my visa stamps, immigration stamps, etc. Is this going to be a problem? Should I submit this e-visa as well along with the webform?

The Singapore e-visa has expired.

Hello Everyone,

I am in a slightly tricky situation and need your help. I am in USA and due to COVID I was laid off by previous company. Due to visa issues I cannot work in USA any longer and hence I am looking for job opportunities in Canada.

I was able to find a company that gave me a job offer and started my work permit processing which started as per this above thread. We submitted my work permit application 2 months back. However, due to a mistake made in the work permit form (described above) we had to withdraw the work permit application and submit it again.

Now, a company in USA has recently offered me a position which will also take care of the visa issues I was facing previously and thus it will enable me to continue my life and work in USA without disrupting me and my family.

My questions are -

1. If I decide to proceed with the USA job offer and ultimately withdraw my Canada work permit for a 2nd time will it affect any future PR or work permit applications in Canada? I have already withdrawn the application once due to a mistake in the form. The 2nd withdrawal will be due to the fact that I have decided not to go ahead with my employment in Canada

2. I am also applying for a PR. Will this 2nd withdrawal affect my chances or will IRCC put any undue scrutiny or unfavorable decision on my PR??

I request experts or experienced people to give their opinions?? Also, if there is anyone who knows a good lawyer or expert please share their links or contact details.

Thanks
