Hi, guys, I have a quite complicated situation now. Hopefully to get some suggestions here. Here is the story:

I applied under ONPNP through Master stream on March 2016, but haven't got PPR yet. I'm holding spouse work permit as my husband is a PhD student here till April 2018. The thing is he wants to work full time while he is in the last year of school as he already finished all the courses. He has tried to apply for work permit as he is included in the PR application, but the officer rejected it as my status is based on his status (spouse open work permit). They suggest me to get an independent work permit and apply spouse open work permit for him.

As I graduated almost 2 years ago, there is no chance to apply PGWP. The only way I'm thinking is to apply for bridge open work permit, but my status will be expired in 8 months (the requirement is 4 months), can I apply it now? If I add one explanation letter, saying I want to change my working status from spouse work permit to bridge work permit, any chance to get it approved? Can I apply it in boarder? thanks!

Hi alinaheyue,

Could I ask how you case went through finally? I have the same condition as you explained in this post? the only difference is that my Open work permit (which is from my husband status, he is postdoc fellow, on closed work permit, and I'm BC PNP from skill immigration stream) is going to expire in 3 month. Do you think if I apply for Bridge open work, my husband would be able to apply for open work permit?

Thanks
